Tree Service in Raleigh, NC

Raleigh work is canopy work. West and southwest Raleigh in particular carry some of the largest street and yard trees in the county, and a lot of what we do here is pruning mature hardwoods and removing trees from lots where nothing has room to fall.

That means rigging, small pieces, and carrying debris out to the street. We plan Raleigh jobs around access and parking before we plan the cutting.

The trees in Raleigh

The older inner neighborhoods are willow oak and water oak, planted as street trees decades ago and now very large — magnificent, and at the age where limb failure and root decay become real. Brier Creek and Wakefield are newer plantings on smaller lots: maple, pear, and pine. Downtown lots add the extra complication of alleys, wires, and neighbors ten feet away.

The old willow oaks in Five Points and Hayes Barton are near the end of a typical urban lifespan. Decay at old pruning wounds and root damage from decades of sidewalk and driveway work make them the trees most worth having looked at before the next storm.

For emergency calls in Raleigh, downed wires are the common complication. Duke Energy has to clear primary lines before we can work the tree, and we will tell you the moment that is the case.

Permits and HOA rules in Raleigh

Raleigh protects street trees in the public right-of-way and regulates tree conservation areas on many parcels — removing a right-of-way tree requires city involvement, not just your say-so. Trees fully inside your own yard are usually your decision. If the tree is between the sidewalk and the curb, call the City of Raleigh Urban Forestry before anything else.
